Caricature

Caricature carving is enjoyed by many carvers because it often represents people they know or situations they've seen as humorous.

Realistic

As the name implies, realistic carvings depict a scene or object to look as close as possible to the real subject.

Relief

Relief carving as the name implies involves making a picture by making a relief into the surface of the wood. Some carvings include multiple layers .

Chip

Chip carving is often seen as a more technical carving. Many of the designs used in chip carving are based off of geometric shapes.

There are many different styles or types of carving. In fact, you can carve just about anything. I carve in wood. So what type of carvings have I done? Below I list the different carvings I've done by the different styles. You can see I use type and style interchangably, why because it all depends on how you choose to explain it. Within the different styles there are also different techniques used to within them to accomplish different effects.

So what does all this mean, not much really. I just thought I'd explain it because I've been asked before to do so. As I said, below are some of the different styles of carving that I've done. Read the description and click the link to see what I've done.
